Twinkle, Twinkle

Something super amazing happens in my living room every day. In the late morning/ early afternoon, the sun hits these bad boys...




They are little mirrors, that are supposed to bring good luck, and good energy to your home. (Thank you Santa!)

When the sun hits them, they make these twinkly reflections on my ceiling.

I have three of them laid out on the window sill behind my couch. This is the perfect spot for them, and they stay lit up for several hours on a sunny day.

I like to tell people that they look like stars twinkling in the day light, indoors.
I can't help it, every time I see this I smile. It just makes me so happy!

Its extra fun on a windy day (been lots of those lately) cause then all the little dots really start to twinkle. The wind moves the tree outside the window which blocks the light now and then- it truly is amazing


In Feng Shui, it can be really important to have crystals and mirrors that help to reflect the light in your home. I love that these so easily do that, and anything that makes you smile when you see it makes for good energy and good Feng Shui!

Its like a natural phenomenon happening in my own living room :)

Recycled cereal box Sunburst mirror

I have literally been working on this mirror for weeks now. I started it a while ago, and then got busy and wasn't able to work on it- but it is finally done! I got the directions from Under the Table and Dreaming, and it was very simple to follow and make my own masterpiece!


When I finished it, I decided it felt a little retro to me, so I went with it, and gathered up random things to complete the vignette in my bedroom. Here are a couple different things I came up with, from start to finish.

This owl feels retro, but it blended in with the wall a little too well...

Aren't the shadows of the mirror fun?! I love how they create the look of a whole other layer.

Milk glass seemed like a good idea, with some retro fabric, but it wasn't screaming at me...





I finally settled on this setup with my glass dish, and some bangles in it with the plant, milk glass vase, and a pic of me and my honey ;) While I don't love this setup either, I was getting tired of standing around and thinking so hard about it- it will come to me in time :)


Well worth the wait! Glad I decided to finish this one up, and I love how it looks paired with my other DIY'd sunburst mirror. I am thinking about making another one of some sort (different from these two) so I have a cluster of three. I already have the mirror, so be prepared!

Sunburst Mirror Ideas

I have been wanting to make one of these for a while now. I already have the mirror (somewhere but can't find it after the move) and was looking around for a good pic of what I wanted my mirror to look like. Boy was I in for a treat! There are so many great ideas out there and most of the time they include a great tutorial on the execution.

Something different than your typical sunburst mirror. This reminds me more of a sunflower... I love sunflowers...

This mirror is made with a Lazy Susan, and some wooden tear drops. I like the simplicity of this one. Wouldn't this mirror look cute in a nursery?

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall...

I've been on the hunt for a cool, unique, funky mirror for super cheap... These are inspirational indeed! With a small space, a mirror is great to make the space look bigger and brighter. I have a mirror in my house that reflects the window, and brings in tons of natural light and I love it!

There are so many types and varieties of mirrors now, that they are art pieces in themselves!
