Some hump day fun!

Yesterday was a good day... I spent all morning in class, then spent all afternoon reading and doing lots of homework. So when I got home, I decided I was going to do something fun.

This is what happened...

I decided that the decor that was behind the couch had been there too long-a couple weeks! So I clearly need to re-do it. This is the end result

I am always tweaking little things here and there around the house. But this one spot behind my couch tends to get the brunt of it. I am re-doing it about every other week. I can't help it- I just don't LOVE it and will work till I do.

I took everything away yesterday, and started out with all new things. This is in my love and relationships corner, so I had to keep that in mind while picking items. I went "shopping" all around my house, and looked for some new things that I could use. I ended up with vases, lots of picture frames, and some new plants.

The back wall there is so large, and I just don't know what to put up there. I am always struggling with it (or course if I had money I know what I would put there- a mirror, I just don't have another one lying around)

I had some box frames from Ikea that were there before but they were becoming an eye sore. I took the glass out, and moved it to the back. I decided that would be just the change I needed, and the project that could keep me entertained for a long period of time. I covered the glass with fabric that I had from my table makeover. I wanted it to be somewhat sentimental to me, and not just any random art piece, so I took some of my sister's jewelery that was broken, and placed them in the frames (she died about 3 years ago)

This one I put a fortune that says "Stop searching forever, happiness is just next to you" which is symbolic in more than one way, and a crystal that was also my sisters.

I put pearls, and a broken earring in the second one. I like how they both turned out, but am feeling like they might need something else. Any ideas? I was also thinking about painting the frame silver- a strong possibility...

A total Knockout

This room was done by Emily A. Clark and it is actually a basement, that was given a lovely makeover. Everything in this room flows together so nicely, and I am very jealous of the people who get to see it everyday!

These chairs and mirror are the first thing that you see when you walk down the stair. I love the red pillows paired with the striped chairs.

And of course, I have deep love for 4 major things in this pic: first and foremost- the console table (doesn't matter what it looks like or what is on top of it-I LOVE the console), then the garden stool (I am still completely drooling over these things), the gourd lamps (again, doesn't matter where or what color-love all of them), and lastly, a nice, decorative, big mirror.

Put it all together, and here is a total knockout room!

I love the combination of the Chevron rug, with the different patterns on the pillows. There is nothing worse than covering up a beautiful rug with a big, chunky, overbearing coffee table, so I love this small glass one. Perfect!

Dreamy Closets

I believe a lot of people can really truly appreciate the value of having a large, beautiful closet. To be able to always have tons of options with clothes, shoes, and accessories would be a dream come true. Even to be able to dedicate a drawer of jewelery to every color possible... How fun...
This is my outlet for dreaming about this, because it is never going to happen...

Paris Hilton's Closet- love the mirrored dresser!

Miley Cyrus' Closet. Her shoes are stacked up on the ladders on the far wall- super cute

The infamous Mariah Carey's Closet- I don't think that I will EVER need a closet as big as hers. I mean, she has rooms dedicated to shoes!

Coastal Living

I absolutely adore the chandeliers in a closet/ dressing room- it gives it just the right amount of pizzaz and elegance. I would have to say, a chandelier is a necessity for rooms like these...

Shabby chic

I love the Shabby Chic look to any room! I think that it really gives the space character, and makes things look warn and used- but in a good way.
You pair that with some elegance, and you have Shabby chic! I especially love the chandelier added to this look.

The white of the furniture is paired perfectly with some flowers and a little color.

Mmmmmmmmmm
Love it!

Obsessing over Anthro

I have been obsessing over Anthropologie

How High the Moon ring
Glitter quartz ring *I will just die if I don't get this ring*It's that fabulous!

I am totally digging all the great garden things they have too! The stork feet plant stand would be amazing on my deck!

And the moon chimes, I am wondering if I can make something myself that would look something like theirs... Inspiring indeed!

Organic Rococo Mirror

Sundra Blossom Bedding

Josef Wingback Chair

Crocus petite vase
Cascara Side table

The copper clad nightstand, and the Bewick cupboard

And I just couldn't resist all their fabulous hardware! (Thats actually what I went looking for, but was sidetracked by all the beauty)

What a difference any of these knobs would make to a piece! I am just swooning over all of them!

Lamp Makeover!

My honey found this lamp a long time ago on the side of the road (its amazing what people dump on the side of the road! We score lots of stuff and its funny cause we aren't looking- they just pop up!). Its a great lamp, but doesn't go with anything in our house, and doesn't reflect us or our style at all-but we both saw the potential.

I spray painted the base silver, then put the old lamp shade back on while I was shopping around for another one. This took a while, cause I had a very specific idea in my head and I didn't think it would be that hard to find what I wanted- but of course it was! I was glad that I waited, cause I think that I found the perfect one!

It complements the base better, and looks more sleek. I added a new silver ball knob at the top that gives it a little extra character too.

Very stoked!
